Silencers are devices that reduce sound transmission in a duct, a pipe or an opening, without preventing the transport of a fluid (e.g. air or industrial gas, with varying pressure and temperature conditions). Their main characteristics are therefore acoustic performance (insertion loss, flow noise) and also aeraulic performance (total pressure loss). Silencers must also meet - depending on the context - possibly many and varied technical requirements (it all depends on the field of application).

The noise reduction by the means of a silencer is an action at source frequently implemented in the context of a soundproofing program.

The fields of action of ITS in terms of silencers are the following:

  • study:
    • on-site acoustic diagnosis with sound level measurements: by a technician qualified in physical measurements (specialized in instrumental techniques), with duly calibrated and verified sound level meters, before or after the installation of a silencer
    • acoustic and aeraulic sizing calculations: by an experienced acoustical engineer, using dedicated simulation software SILDIS®, developed and published by ITS or commercial software - "Finite Element Method (FEM), Computational Fluid Mechanics (CFD) -
    • the quality management system of the engineering missions carried out by ITS are periodically reviewed and certified in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard
  • representation:
    • marketing of silencers of all kinds, and of related hardware; all are distinguished by the quality of their design and manufacture, their high level of performance and their durability
    • commercialization of installation work
  • protection of workers against noise: against noise emitted by machines (compressed air outlets)
  • preservation of acoustic environment: against industrial hardware installed outside of buildings (suction networks) and related to the acoustical insulation of buildings themselves (ventilation openings)
  • limitation of noise emissions in energy sector: against noise emitted by machines, against industrial hardware installed outside of buildings (air intakes, burnt gas exhausts including those for gensets and gas turbines, stacks outlets, piping systems for pressurized fluids) and related to the acoustical insulation of buildings themselves (aeraulic networks inlets and outlets)
  • measurement and testing rooms acoustics (ventilation systems, thermal engines exhaust systems foranechoic chambers and test rigs)
  • acoustic comfort in buildings: against equipment noise (e.g. for Heating ventilation Air Conditioning - HVAC -: air conditioning and boiler room hardware)

ITS offers noise reduction by the means of silencers: ventilation, air-conditionning, air intake, exhaust, discharge, industrial process.
