The protection of workers against noise can usefully be considered by companies not only as a regulatory imperative to which they must comply (at least: in France, in connection with the transposition into national law of the European directive no. 2003/10/CE of 6 February 2003) but also as a factor of productivity, since it constitutes a major aspect of the creation or maintenance of favorable conditions for a job well done.

Sound protection for workers in the industry

the protection of workers
against noise (here: in an industrial context) often motivates
the recourse to ITS

In the matter of protection of workers against noise, the respect of noise exposure limit values often makes it necessary to implement soundproofing actions in relation to which ITS can intervene to perform a diagnosis (if necessary: with acoustic measurements on site), size and commercialize equipment whose performance is guaranteed.

The experience of ITS human resource, acquired during such projects for decades, and diversified commercial partnerships to cover the different works involved in the resolution of technical issues of all kinds, directly related to the soundproofing or connected, make possible interventions in all industrial contexts.

For the protection of workers against noise, ITS offers powerful solutions at a reasonable cost in response to all the needs in the matter of soundproofing (preventive or curative) by the means of ergonomic equipment (standard or tailor made) for which the quality of design and of execution meets the highest level of requirement in this area for an efficient fight against noise in the context of compliance with legislation or of improvement of working conditions.

Workshop booths, soundproofed control rooms and offices

ITS markets workshop booths, soundproofed control rooms and offices providing, with a high level of habitability, an effective protection against noise, inner noise levels being always below the limits recommended in various refrence documents used in France e.g. standard ISO 11690-1 Acoustics - Recommended practice for the design of low-noise workplaces containing machinery - Part 1: Noise control strategies, standard NF S 31080 Acoustics - Offices and associated areas - Acoustic performances levels and criteria by type of area, standard NF S 31-199 Acoustics - Acoustical performances of open plan offices.

All sectors of activity

soundproofed workshop offices on 2 floors (mechanical industry)

All the features required for habitability can be integrated (visibility, heating, air conditioning, lighting, electricity, interior design...).

Acoustics improvement (reduction of the reverberation) of working premises

ITS markets the implementation of suspended acoustical ceiling tiles and acoustic baffles, installation of acoustical wall panels contributing also to the improvement of the visual ambiance. Such works allow the compliance of premises (e.g. industrial) in which machines and devices likely to expose workers to a daily sound exposure level greater than 85 dB(A) shall be installed: the decrease in sound level by doubling the distance from the source, linked to the reverberation of noise on the walls inside buildings is regulated, in France, by the Decree of August 30, 1990 taken for the application of article R. 235 -11 of the labor code and relating to the reverberation control of work premises.

Noise reduction at source for machines and equipment

ITS offers enclosures (acoustic hoods) for noisy machines and equipment, soundproofing partitions and also: limitation of noise propagation by the implementation of acoustical screens. Related features such as disassembly / mobility of the walls or of subsets, visibility, ventilation, lighting, securities, fire protection ... are integrated to robust constructions with quality finishes ensuring a high durability and sometimes also contributing to the limitation of other nuisances than noise: dust, fogs, fumes, heat, laser radiation ...

At the end of such actions of protection of workers against noise, the sound levels are always below the limits triggering the action in Europe i.e. exposure level L EX, 8h = 80 dB(A) and/or peak sound pressure = 112 Pa or 135 dB(C) ref. 20 μPa.

Paper industry, corrugated cardboard industry

In paper industry as well as in corrugated cardboard industry, ITS offers means to diminish noise levels to which workers are exposed:

  • acoustic carterisations and soundproofing partitions with respect to machinery and production lines as noisy as: corrugators, processing machinery (cutting / trimming, folding and gluing, stapling, ...) and printing machines for corrugated cardboard
  • enclosures and silencers with respect to peripheral equipment causing noise such as grinders, chippings suction systems, dust removal systems ...

enclosure for a corrugator (corrugated cardboard industry)

carterisation for a printing machine (corrugated cardboard industry)

Manufacture of paper or of corrugated cardboard involves means of production for which the noise emissions often justify the implementation of means of fight against noise whose acoustic performance must be high to allow the achievement of levels of noise exposure of workers complying with the legislation.

One finds in printing industry numerous machines that are so noisy that it is necessary to have recourse to sound pollution reduction devices of high performance in order to meet the limits of the regulation in terms of sound level at workplaces.

A wide ranges of products and services for the protection of workers against noise

ITS offers soundproofing products and equipment for the protection of workers against noise (improvement of working conditions).

In France, as in the rest of Europe, such means are an integral part of a program of technical measures to reduce exposure to noise, which must be considered (in noisy workplaces) when the level of daily noise exposure is above 85 dB(A) and / or when the peak sound pressure level is above 137 dB(C) and, a fortiori, when the daily exposure level at noise is above 87dB (A) and / or when the peak sound pressure level is above 140 dB(C) - immediate noise exposure reduction measures are then mandatory -.

On-site measurements, design, construction (with or without installation) are part of the range of products and services marketed by ITS in terms of protection of workers against noise.
