In a printing workshop, a rotary press is a very powerful noise source potentially causing sound nuisance for the personnel operating in the vicinity (in production halls) and sometimes also for the neighborhood. It is often necessary to use in such cases a high-tech soundproofing equipment to ensure the conformity of the facility with respect to the legislation on noise in workplaces and sometimes also with respect to the regulations in terms of fight against domestic noise.

ITS will participate in the construction of an acoustic partition to limit the noise propagation related to the operation of an offset rotary press near Saint Etienne in the region Rhône Alpes (France).

This soundproofing device will offer a sound reduction particularly important at medium and high frequency where the maximum of the noise emission of the enclosed noisy equipments is, requiring a specific design and a specific construction of the acoustic partition walls.

Related features such as visibility for the operation of the machines, access for maintenance work, disassembly of some subsets of the soundproofing equipments ... will be integrated according to the needs for this acoustic partion for an offset rotary press.

An acoustic partition to limit the noise propagation related to the operation of an offset press is a metal construction whose height often reaches 10 or 12 m (if not more) and whose length is usually tens of meters. Whether freestanding or with supports under the roof (on the frame of the building housing the printing activities), the metal structure and the industrial soundproofing panels form a functional and elegant set, generally prominently featuring glazed surfaces which allow on the one hand a visual control of the organs of the machine for the operators and on the other hand an enhancement of the production tool for the visitors.

With its internal face consisting of a material with a sound absorption coefficient close to 1, and having a sound reduction index close to 40 dB (at frequencies above 0.5 kHz), an acoustic partition to limit the noise propagation related to the operation of an offset rotary press allows workers of the book, paper and communication industries (posted at the control desk, or mobile for their professional tasks) to operate in a work space in which noise levels are below regulatory limits in France: daily noise exposure level below 80 dB (A) and peak sound pressure level below 135 dB (C).

This acoustic performance, as well as the longevity of such construction is undoubtedly a major criterion for technical choice, but, whatever, it must be said: it will look great, this acoustic partition to limit noise propagation related to the operation of an offset rotary press marketed by ITS !
