ITS proposes the realization of acoustic studies, based on a competence and intervention center based in Lyon (in the Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne region), able to go everywhere in France, as in neighboring countries (or further on, provided that English or German is spoken there, if not French).

The acoustic studies proposed are often related to the problems related to noise, e.g. in companies (at workstations, including in open-spaces such as call centers, but also in meeting rooms, in canteens), but not only.

In some cases, equipment are causing excessive noise emissions, whether in production workshops (machines, ancillary equipment such as ventilation or dust removal network), or in offices (air conditioning mouths, photocopiers, inserting machines). It is then necessary to characterize the sound discomfort by measuring the sound pressure level, depending on the context: continuous equivalent in dB (A) or peak in dB (C) and to compare it with the values of daily exposure to noise triggering action or with other reference values e.g. that may be provided by a standard in the case of offices.

Sometimes, the protection of the environment (e.g. of industrial sites) can motivate the acoustic study, and it is necessary to take into account the noise level relating to the ambient noise (including the particular noise involved with respect to a possible disruption of the neighborhood) and residual noise, to determine the emergence and to compare it with the regulatory values.

In other cases, it is of the premise  that one must be concerned, if the reverberation is too important. It is then necessary to carry out a specific metrology in order to quantify it or to determine the decay of the sound level by doubling the distance to the noise source and to compare it with a reference value e.g. that can be provided by a standard if it comes to an office or (in France) by a ministerial order in the general case.

Apart from work-related contexts, spaces such as sports facilities, multipurpose halls, restaurants, premises for young children may require an acoustic study if the occupants feel embarrassed, and a similar approach is then to be considered, in relation to a different regulatory or normative reference source.

In any case, the acoustic study of ITS will reveal some ways to improve the situation that has been observed, the solutions being very variable.

Sometimes, in relation to noise in industry, job rearrangements or changes in work organization may be considered to reduce workers' exposure to noise.

In most cases where acoustic studies have been necessary and have justified to have recourse to ITS, soundproofing equipment should be envisaged, either at the source, i.e. concerning noisy equipment themselves (enclosures, silencers), or regarding building envelopes (acoustic correction elements, reinforcement of insulation to airborne noise), or to prevent noise propagation (screens, noise barrier walls).

ITS knows how to size such soundproofing equipment and accompany its Customers to the end of their progress approach in acoustics.
